The award promotes cultural diversity and comes with a prize of 2,000 euros, plus an additional 1,000 euros for the runner-up

Writer Javier Vázquez Losada has won the First Short Story Literary Prize organized by the Las Fuentes Foundation to promote cultural diversity and coexistence among societies, religions, and ideologies. The winning work is titled *Los que llegan* and comes with a prize of 2,000 euros. The runner-up prize went to José Antonio León Llorente for his short story *La clandestinidad de la tinta* (The Secret Life of Ink), for which he will receive 1,000 euros.

The jury is composed of writers and experts Eloy Tizón, Azahara Palomeque, Francisco Javier Guerrero Cano, and Natalia García Freire, who have selected twelve stories from among all the submitted works. The two winning stories will be included in an anthology alongside ten other works distinguished for their literary quality: *The Last Cigar*, *How to Pluck a Chicken*, *Subject: Project on Indigenous Caribbean Music*, *Focus on the Target*, *Migrations*, *The Other Shore*, “Successfully Unpaired Device,” “The Family Tree,” “Not in the Greenhouse,” and “Where an Arab Without Temples and a Cyrenean with Splinters Learn to Look at Each Other.”

The volume will be published by Editorial Graviola and features splendid illustrations by the renowned artist Sarah Jarrett, who will offer her personal perspective on some of the world’s most significant contemporary phenomena: from migration to memory, identity, intercultural dialogue, and individuality—all examined from diverse geographical and symbolic perspectives.

The official awards ceremony and the presentation of the anthology published by Graviola will take place in Córdoba on November 13. Details regarding the venue and time of the event will be announced shortly through the organization’s official channels. The book will be distributed in Spain and Latin America.

The Las Fuentes Foundation works to develop and disseminate tools for intercultural coexistence, promoting dialogue among societies, religions, and ideologies through artistic and literary initiatives.
